Galas State Assemblyman Che Hashim Sulaima, who has been diagnosed with stomach cancer, will undergo surgery at a hospital in Guangzhao, China today.
The Kelantan Pas is bearing the cost of the surgery, having allocated RM200,000 for that purpose.
State Pas election director Abdul Fatah Harun said the 45-year-old assemblyman was still in critical condition at the hospital.
“PAS will continue to organise ‘solat hajat’ (prayer of need) and pray for the assemblyman’s speedy recovery so that he can continue serving the people in the constituency,” he told Bernama here.
Asked whether PAS was preparing for a possible by-election in Galas, he said:”We have not made any preparation. Let the opponent make the first move. PAS is in no rush.”
Che Hashim was diagnosed with stomach cancer about three months ago, at a hospital in Kuala Lumpur.
