A DISCOURSE IN ISLAMIC STATE (Part 12)

Assalamualaikum,

.....................continued from part 11

The second part of the kalimah reads:

محمد رسول الله
Transliteration: Muhammadur Rasullullah
Translation: Muhammad is the messenger of Allah
In this kalimah, the affirmation is made of the Divine Apostleship of the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. By this the Muslims submit that Muhammad s.a.w. was not only a human being but was also exalted as a prophet for all mankind from the moment of his exaltation till the Day of Qiamat (The Last Day). This implies the Muslim accept his message or Risalah as the one and only true teachings for all mankind.Whatever taught, revealed or preached by Muhammad s.a.w. was hundred percent true and authentic. All things that he taught to the world, all the truths he revealed to mankind were based on Divine inspiration (wahyu) based on special and authoritative knowledge vouchsafed to him by Allah, and so they were absolutely correct and beyond dispute. There is not the least excuse, the slightest reason for doubting or questioning his words.
When the Muslim testifies to the second kalimah it simply means he holds every word of Muhammad s.a.w. as true, to regard his teachings and guidance as the teachings and guidance of Allah, and to decide once and for all to lead one's life according to the precepts he taught.
وَمَاأَرْسَلْنَامِنرَّسُولٍإِلاَّ لِيُطَاعَبِإِذْنِاللّهِ
We sent not an Apostle, but to be obeyed in accordance with the Will of Allah (iv:64)
A covenant
The Muslim must realise that once the syahadah is testified, it is in fact a covenant. It embodies the pledge and the vow that Muslims believe in Allah as the Only Lord Sovereign, Master and Creator, and regard everything that exists in this world and the Hereafter to be exclusively in His control, and that, since they do so, they will worship Him alone and carry out His commands the way a servant or a slave carries out the commands of his master; and love Him and adore Him above all else.
The Muslims further accept Prophet Muhammad as the true Apostle of Allah and will abide by his guidance as loyal followers and fashion their lives acording to the holy laws laid down by him.
