Betrayal of Islam by the Nationalists: Pakistan

Pakistan was born on August 14, 1947. When the partition did materialise, the Sikhs, who had committed themselves so much to the Hindus demanded the partition of Punjab. Large-scale voilence first erupted on August 9 when a Pakistan Special Train travelling from Delhi toward Karachi was derailed near Bhatinda, and Muslim passengers were attacked. The Sikhs apparently decided to concentrate their community within East Punjab, and to achieve this goal they planned to drive all the Muslims from the area.

The Sikh leaders had been given vague hopes of a Sikh State and soon started massacring and driving out Muslims from the districts of Amritsar, Ferozpur, Gurdaspur, Ludhiana and Jullundur and the Sikh states of Nabha, Patiala, Faridkot and other areas which were to form the nucleus of Sikhistan. The carnage in Punjab alone cost at least 50,000 dead and rendered countless millions homeless.

By the end of 1947, a million Muslims had been killed, and at least four millions reached Pakistan on trains, in motor convoys and on foot continuously under attack in world's most choatic and biggest exodus. be continued
